IGI Offers Adobe CS4 Training
April 13-17, 2009
The Institute for Graphics and Imaging (IGI) announces the second in a series of hands-on workshops featuring Adobe® Creative Suite® 4 (CS4). These workshops focus on increasing productivity and adding dollars to the bottom line, and include advanced sessions on Illustrator®, Photoshop®, and Acrobat®. Personnel completing this new IGI training will learn how CS4 allows them to be more efficient and productive than ever before. Just one month of using CS4 will more than pay for the training and the upgrade cost upon completion of this training! Courses will be held at the IGI facility in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Workshop facilitator Clint Funk has more than 25 years experience in the graphic arts and is an Adobe consultant who has presented at hundreds of industry events. His lively and entertaining presentations make him a favorite with Adobe and audiences around the world. Clint’s presentations focus on increasing efficiency and reducing costs using technology to work smarter, not harder.
April 13–14, 2009. This two-day workshop will dig into vector graphics, their use and abuse (e.g., Illustrator files that won’t print). Of the print production applications (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Adobe Illustrator® CS4 is the least intuitive, yet it is essential for creating logos, illustrations and other non-pixel based designs. This hands-on course will focus on creating and troubleshooting Illustrator graphics. Students will learn h! ow to open multiple pages in a single document with CS4, saving time while reducing file size. Opening a large multi-page document in Illustrator CS4 now takes 20 seconds as opposed to 3 minutes in CS3, a nearly 1000 percent productivity increase.
April 15, 2009. In this one-day workshop, attendees will learn there is a lot more to Adobe Acrobat 9.0 than simply creating a PDF. This hands-on workshop will begin with different ways to create PDFs, including PDF/X 1a for print. Students will learn how to save with Adobe Acrobat® 9.0 using fillable, submissable PDF forms that reduce the time required to gather information on paper by 75 percent, reducing errors and eliminating paper for a greener workflow. Students also will learn how to use a comment and review workflow that saves 80 percent of the time it takes to physically edit, mark up, and make changes on a proof.
April 16–17, 2009. In this two-day workshop, attendees will learn how to efficiently use Adobe Photoshop® CS4 to correct and manipulate digital images. Class will begin with an overview of Photoshop emphasizing productivity enhancements. Selections are the key to Photoshop, and a number of options are available. This class will examine them all. For production color, “correction” is a critical issue and this class will focus on doing color by the numbers. Students will also examine a number of different ways of manipulating images. Participants will learn about the Adjustment panel that makes adjustments easier to find with less mouse movement and stresses a nondestructive image workflow! Common image adjustments are now 200 percent faster.
