We had a great January meeting!

The evening started off with fresh, hot pizza from the Manhattan Deli across the way from the Navy Memorial Auditorium. People were busy chatting, chowing-down (chow-downing?), and viewing the informative exhibits that line the walls.

The business part of the meeting began with Noha Edell finishing up Part 2 of her presentation on Converting from Quark to InDesign® CS. The feedback from the group showed that almost everybody was ready to convert, if they hadn’t already done so. With nested styles, the best transparency capabilities, improved ease of use, and superior interoperability with Photoshop® and Illustrator®, InDesign CS is the clear winner.

Our plug-in partner for the evening was XMPie, which demonstrated its new product, uDirect, the first variable-data desktop publishing tool designed specifically and only for InDesign CS. Imagine mail-merge on steroids (legally, in this case). Not only can you vary text, but also graphics, colors, layout, and more, all based on your instructions and all working within InDesign.

After the meeting wrapped up with a Q&A session, we had our prize drawings. Several people won prizes ranging from T-shirts to books to copies of InDesign! But to win, you 'gotta be there. So be sure to join us next time!

After the festive drawings for prizes, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm.
