OK, I'm convinced -- CS4 is a must for book designers! I like that I could spend a lot of time designing and with a little work quickly apply all necessary styles - Great!

Meeting Summary: Spring into Fall with IDUG

Wed, Sep 23rd, 2009 at 6:00 PM

U.S. Navy Memorial Auditorium

Event Details

What a way to start the fall season. About 200 InDesigners showed up to hear Noha Edell review, step-by-step, how to efficiently create a book or other long document with InDesign CS4.

Before Noha’s presentation, the group did us proud by devouring 27 large pizzas, dozens of cookies and hundreds of drinks. Well done! After chatting with friends, some not seen over the summer, we headed into the auditorium.

The “Book” feature in InDesign makes it much easier to divide work up amongst multiple people. It’s also just easier to work with smaller bite-size pieces, such as single chapters. The ability to add, delete and rearrange chapters while keeping the book’s organization intact is liberating.

And ID-CS4 has several new and wonderful features, including GREP styles, conditional text, cross references and Live Preflight. All make the process of creating and managing a large document easy. Please refer to the handout that you can download at the bottom of this summary page for links to recorded sessions on this topic and related features.

"This was terrific! I don't use all the features covered, but knowing about them is very valuable. I'm so glad I came, and I hope to make it to the next meeting."
