Acrobat 9 was recently released, ahead of any new Creative Suite version. How does this new version of Acrobat affect you? Noha Edell, our good friend and Adobe Systems Business Development Manager will take you deeper into fundamental InDesign areas than you¹ve been before. Discover the simple secrets of a worry-free, feature-rich workflow. The more artistic and complex our InDesign projects, the more important it is to know how to get the files to print as we expect.
Noha will demonstrate an intelligent workflow to final output, pointing out the hidden pitfalls to avoid along the way. Yes, you can reduce the frustrations of printing, and of the discrepancy between what you see on your monitor and the final output!
You’ll get best-practice information concerning transparency, flattening, preparing for a print service provider, and exporting to various PDF standards. Noha will also cover the use of the forensic tools in InDesign for preventing printing errors and Acrobat 9.0 enhanced preflight and output preview for fixing found problems.
If time allows it, Noha will demonstrate the new features of Acrobat 9 such as PDF Portfolios, native support for embedded Flash, improved forms creation and distribution, and enhanced capabilities for collaboration using Acrobat.com.
The Answer Desk
“The Answer Desk” will return as a regular feature of DC-Area InDesign User Group meetings. During the refreshment hour, “The Answer Desk” will be staffed by professional trainers provided by EEI Communications and our own membership. Bring your InDesign questions to these folks and get an answer while enjoying a slice of pizza. This is a perfect time to ask those questions you don’t want to bring up before a group. Challenge them! Bring it on!! They’re ready for you.
Of course, there will be plenty of food and drink before the meeting starts. And, we’ll close the meeting with drawings for lots of goodies.
It’s been a while since we’ve all been together, so let’s make this first meeting in the autumn a big success. See your old friends. Talk about your summertime adventures. And, enjoy the camaraderie of the largest and most successful InDesign User Group in the World!

The U.S. Navy Memorial Auditorium is conveniently located atop its own Metro station (Navy Memorial/Archives). Discount evening parking is available in the building (garage entrance on D Street) and at other nearby buildings. Parking meter enforcement extends to 9:30pm, so skip the meters.
