Event Details

We had a great meeting on Tuesday July 6th as we welcomed Seattle resident Colin Fleming of Adobe up to Vancouver. Colin treated us to the great new features in InDesign CS5 and how to use them in an everyday user setting.

Colin is an Application Engineer at Adobe Systems Incorporated. He has taught advanced classes on applications and production techniques for print and Web design since 1999. His specialties include InDesign production workflows and custom training for Adobe customers who are moving to InDesign and Creative Suite workflows. Colin is an Adobe Certified Instructor in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, and Acrobat, and an Adobe Creative Suite Master Instructor. He was also hired by Adobe to help create and review many of the actual Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) exams. Colin has been a member of the Seattle InDesign User Group since its original meeting in 2000 and was the chapter representative from 2002-2004.

See more of Colin on Adobe TV at http://bit.ly/d4AOa3 as he shows us how to use InDesign to create ebooks.

After Colin completed his presentation, Jeff Kew reviewed all the prizes we were giving away including showing off the websites and the software that was being awarded as doorprizes.

We concluded by drawing evaluation forms for prizes.

Many thanks to our sponsors for donating the following products and services for this meeting. (Best prices for books are usually found at Amazon.ca, and don't forget that there are often discount member benefits for book purchases; check these out in the Member Benefits area on the IDUG website. Thank you

Many thanks to Adobe for their ongoing and generous support. Without them, we wouldn't be having these meetings.

Facilities for the meeting supplied by the Vancouver Film School, http://www.vfs.com.

A special thank-you to Colin Fleming for going the extra miles to be with us (nearly 8hrs of driving over two days). Let's not forget our amazing volunteers who put these meetings together; Jeff Kew, Regina Leung, Miles Harrison, Thorsten Gohl, Aldo Rivera and Anna Mae Abia (our photographer). Last but not least, thanks to everyone who came out for this event and gave us their generous feedback.
