Event Details

We had a great meeting on Tuesday March 23rd as we welcomed Seattle native David Blatner of InDesign Secrets fame up to Vancouver. David wowed us with his vast knowledge of InDesign by presenting a 90-minute tips & tricks session. (He covered different material from what he will be presenting at his one-day InDesignSecrets Vancouver seminar in April.)

David Blatner is the author or co-author of 15 books, including "Real World InDesign" and "InDesign for QuarkXPress Users," and presents many InDesign titles at Lynda.com. He is the editorial director of "InDesign Magazine." Over a half a million copies of his books are in print in 13 languages, and his Blatner Tools plug-ins help InDesign users improve their productivity. He has spoken at conferences and workshops around North America, Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Africa. You can find more about David at:

We concluded by drawing evaluation forms for prizes.

Thank you

Many thanks to Adobe for their ongoing and generous support. Without them, we wouldn't be having these meetings.

Facilities for the meeting supplied by the Vancouver Film School, http://www.vfs.com.

A special thank-you to David Blatner for going the extra miles to be with us (nearly 8hrs of driving in one day). Also a special thanks to our volunteers who put these meetings together; Jeff Kew, Regina Leung, Miles Harrison and Michael Yee (our guest door attendant). And last but not least, thanks to everyone who came out for this event and gave us their generous feedback.

*Looking to become a Certified ACE?
It can be difficult to get ahead in today's market and stand out from the crowd. Becoming an Adobe Certified Expert is the answer.

Adobe certification is an industry standard of excellence, and the best way to communicate your knowledge, skills and experience to prospective employers or clients.

At $150USD per exam it's not cheap or indeed easy, so plenty of study and practice is required. AceQuestions Practice Exams are written by an Adobe Certified Expert and are designed to simulate the real exam. The exams are setup as interactive PDFs with clickable radio buttons for multiple choice answers. All you need is the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader (Acrobat 7 or higher recommended). Your result is calculated as a percentage, just like the real thing!

AceQuestions Practice Exams are affordably priced. Good luck with your certification!

Next Meeting

Well, with the cat out of the bag about the April 12th announcement, I'm going to suggest that our next meeting might possibly be all about whatever gets announced on April 12th. :-)

Colin Fleming, of Adobe will be coming up from Seattle to be our guest speaker in June. Final date TBD.

Colin is an Application Engineer at Adobe Systems Incorporated. He has taught advanced classes on applications and production techniques for print and Web design since 1999. His specialties include InDesign production workflows and custom training for Adobe customers who are moving to InDesign and Creative Suite workflows. Colin is an Adobe Certified Instructor in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, and Acrobat, and an Adobe Creative Suite Master Instructor. He was also hired by Adobe to help create and review many of the actual Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) exams.
