Our second meeting of the year was a huge success, with over 90 people registered and 66 people in attendance. All who attended were able to pick up some print materials on Adobe InDesign CS2, a copy of Introduction to Total Training, and a free copy of Layers magazine.
We started the evening with a presentation by Carlos Flores, Marketing and Communications/Art Director of PhotoAlto. He showed the group some examples of PhotoAlto’s newest collections, along with new trends in photography and insight into conceptual photography versus objective photography. He ended his presentation by answering questions about his stock photography and explaining the difference between rights-managed and royalty-free images.
Our second two speakers of the night were Othon V. Dominguez, Senior Project Manager and Matt Janowsky, Senior Associate — Training & Events Division, both of Digital Juice. Inc. The group watched a very informative video presentation on Juice Drops, a royalty-free collection of backgrounds and illustrations that are completely customizable to fit your projects. After the video, Matt showed the product in action, creating a logo using the Juice Drops product. He showed how easy it was to turn on and off layers and to manipulate your project into the final product. Since Juice Drops comes in layers as PSD files, they can easily be edited and placed into all Adobe products instantly.
After several rounds of Q&A for both groups of presenters, we ended the night with a large raffle. An additional thank-you goes out to Othon, Matt, and their organization Digital Juice for donating a copy of Juice Drops to every InDesign User Group member in attendance.
