I enjoyed watching Ron work in InDesign — it’s cool to see how someone else works.
Attendee
On Thursday, May 29, 2008, over 30 Tampa Bay IDUG members gathered at the Poynter Institute to see a presentation by Ron Anderson. Ron explained what a table is and how it is defined. He demonstrated how to create a table from scratch. One specific trick we learned was to hold down the Shift key and drag a line in a table. This technique allows a user to just change the dimension of the selected cell without disrupting all the other cells in a row or column.
Ron continued his presentation by showing the group how to add table headers and footers to tables. Ron also spoke on Formatting Tables and applying formatting to the tables using table styles. Ron suggested following an order of creating a paragraph styles first, cell styles second, and finally a table style last.
In addition to Ron's presentation, we had another successful silent auction again. We raised over $800. GREAT JOB, GROUP!
I would like to thank the following Tampa Bay InDesign User Group Leadership Committee Members for their help: Beth Strayer, Jeane Kean, Chris Andrews, Ron Anderson (for the presentation and the pizza) and Betsy Bugeja (PR and Promotions).
If you would like to be on our Leadership committee and you don’t see your name on our list, we would like to include you and please email and I will add you to our list.
More thanks goes to Kenny Irby, Sara Quinn, Bobbi Alsina, and The Poynter Institute for preparing their facility for all of the members, all the Tampa Bay InDesign Members for stepping forward to become a member of the leadership committee. THANK YOU AGAIN, TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED!

Our speaker will be Triesta Hall, department chair for Digital Publishing at Full Sail University. Her presentation runs from humor (we all need that) to serious (resources) to a call to action (i.e sustainability). If you are interested in learning the fundamentals or brushing up on your typography, you won't want to miss this meeting. (But then, why would you want to miss ANY of our meetings?)
