Meeting details
Our first speaker of the evening will be our very own Ron Anderson. Ron will discuss creating, formatting, and editing tables.
Tables are a good way of presenting data that falls into a natural array of categories. Lots of desktop publishing folks are uncomfortable with tables because earlier software packages made their formatting a chore. InDesign, especially InD3 with its table and cell styles capability, comes very close to solving the word-processing issues involved with creating, formatting, and editing tables.
Our second speaker of the night is also a Tampa Bay InDesign User Group Member. Dan Swanson will be addressing the pen tool. The pen in inDesign works pretty much the same as in both Illustrator and Photoshop. You use it in inDesign to create frames from scratch and/or to modify their shapes by adding points and curved or straight segments. This is useful for modifying the way text wraps next to an irregularly-shaped graphic, or when you want to make a custom-shaped area for text, or maybe custom-shaped frame corners. You can also import paths from Illustrator and further edit them with inDesign's pen tool.
Dan will take the confusion and guess work out of this tool.
