The last 2009 meeting of the Tampa Bay InDesign User Group was November 17th. We had 55 registered members at the meeting and plenty of cake to go around. The meeting started off with a great network icebreaker and an end of the year awards ceremony to those that gave of their time this year. (See the photos)

Ted LoCascio, Graphic Designer, Author, and Educator, discussed Font Management across the Adobe Creative Suite.

With literally thousands of fonts now available for download, it's no wonder that nearly every designer needs a system for managing them. In his short session, Ted discussed the trials and tribulations of using various font types with Adobe InDesign and the Creative Suite, and why you should consider implementing a professional level font manager on both the Mac and Windows platforms. He also explained how to handle fonts for print output and electronic distribution.

A Special thank you goes to Adobe for supplying the cupcakes to celebrate InDesign's 10th year. We all loved them. I think I may have had my fair share of 5 that night!

Next Meeting

February 24, 2010
The next meeting of the Tampa Bay InDesign User Group will be February 24, 2010 at 6:00 PM. Come to a Show & Tell round-table discussion on using InDesign for Self-Promotion & marketing. Come and see three Current InDesign User Group members and their self-promotion piece. Each member will share a piece and technique in InDesign and other Adobe products to create their self-promotion. We will send another email out about the location. If you have a self-promotional piece you would like to share with the group, email me at tampa@indesignusergroup.com. If we have a large turnout for this event we may do this type of meeting a couple times this year.

April 8, 2010
The April meeting of the Tampa Bay InDesign User Group will be Thursday, April 8, 2010, 6:00 PM at the Art Institute of Tampa. Our speaker for the evening will be Noha Edell from Adobe.

Noha will be presenting in two informative hours -- "Everything You Need to Know to Make Your Life Easier and Your Long-document Projects Better. From concept to printed and non-printed finished work, this session has it all.

Even if you don't do long documents, look over the list of topics below, and you're sure to find something that will improve your creativity and productivity. There's truly something here for everyone.
