This meeting was held at the new Fuji Xerox epicenter and focused on printing and colour management with InDesign®.
We started off the meeting socialising and networking over cocktails and food.
Mike McHugh ran the first half of the evening covering, the topic "Avoiding Output Blues". Mike asked the audience to share print issues that they experienced with InDesign. He then created those issues in InDesign and printed them to a Xerox digital colour press in the epicenter. Sure enough, the print results showed heavy type in transparent regions, light boxes in rasterised areas, and other print-related problems.
Mike then explained why these issues occur and demonstrated how to overcome them. After making adjustments to the document, Mike sent the new files to the printer again, and sure enough, the print problems disappeared.
Eliot Harper finished off the evening talking about colour management with InDesign. Eliot covered background topics, including colour reproduction and basic colour theory, before putting it all into practice using colour management in InDesign to create a colour-managed workflow for accurate and reliable colour output.
We finished off the evening with a quiz and prizes kindly donated by Peachpit Press, Teacup Software, Total Training, and Adobe.
