June 15, 2005

We started off the evening with some food and drink, generously provided by Fuji Xerox.

The meeting started with Mal Damkar from the White Lab. Mal showed how he leverages InDesign to add a creative edge to his work. He shared a range of tips, including hints on using grids, layers, and swatches.

Next, Mike McHugh from McHugh Digital Graphics showed how stylish you can be (as in Paragraph styles, Character styles, and Object styles). Mike shared many time-saving tips, including a quick way to set up paragraph styles, and how to use baseline grids. He finished off by showing the data merge feature in action.

Eliot Harper rounded off the evening by showing some InDesign plug-ins, including a Tetris plug-in, and XMPie uDirect; a powerful plug-in for variable-data publishing. Eliot also demonstrated InDesign Server and how it can process multiple jobs concurrently, in addition to producing customised documents on-demand.

Finally, a books were handed out as prizes to winning 'ticket holders'.
