The second Sydney InDesign® user group meeting was held on Thursday 6th May at the PowerMedia theatre in Pyrmont.
Gavin Costello from Quickcut started off the evening by demonstrating QuickPrint for InDesign, and showed how third-party plug-ins such as QuickPrint add power and integration to InDesign in publishing environments.
Next, Nick Lopez from Computer WorkGroup Training gave a tutorial on converting from QuarkXPress to InDesign. The majority of attendees were Quark users, and there were plenty of “ooohs” and “aaahs” as Nick demonstrated how the powerful features of InDesign provide a leading edge over QuarkXPress, and how easy InDesign is to use. The evening flowed along with plenty of questions from the audience.
Eliot Harper closed the evening by demonstrating a few InDesign tricks, and handed out several prizes that were generously donated by Adobe. Overall there was a good turnout, with over 70 attendees. We intend to continue to meet on a regular basis and cover topics that are of interest to a broad range of InDesign users.
