Qantm College Sydney
Event DetailsOn 7 December 2011, 50 IDUG members braved the rain to join us for the last User Group meeting for the year.
We welcomed two new design industry publications recently launched in Sydney, Corker Magazine and Just Us Magazine.
The team from Corker Magazine also joined us for their first meeting and introduced Stephen Nichols from Adobe who showed the group the recently announced Creative Cloud.
As an overview, for a minimal monthly fee users will have access to;
- the latest Creative Suite Master Collection
- an online storage/collaboration service,
- TypeKit - quality fonts on the web,
- Business Catalyst - site building and analytics,
- the DPS solution - single edition,
- community and support network,
- new Digital/Web tools including; Muse & Edge,
- various Touch Apps built for Android and Apple iOS devices.
The cost will be US$50/month for all of the above and all ongoing updates. Australian pricing to be advised.
Next up, Colin Seton from Hypermouse spent some time showing the InDesign CS5.5 specific feature with the Anchoring of objects/picture boxes into text by using the new blue anchor point.
He also went through how to access a document's history and why exporting to IDML is an important option.
This was followed by a brief exploration of some InDesign and Illustrator "Easter Eggs" including;
- print presets "Friendly Alien"
- butterfly (with added Alien)
- stroke styles "Lights"
- cursor following eyes
The trivia part of the night proved challenging with the high score of 12/15 being shared by only two individuals. A great effort with the next high scoring teams 10/15.
