Fuji Xerox Singapore Epicenter - Level 4
Event DetailsThis meeting was a success with at least a total of 45 members and non-members attending at Fuji Xerox Singapore.
We would like to welcome the funky and happening members from Laselle that came to attend our meeting with great enthusiasm. Please do encourage your friends and classmates to join us more often -- the more you attend the more you learn the tips and tricks we would be glad to share.
Andy Lee from Fuji Xerox welcomed everyone with his opening speech, and then came the first speaker. Mark Plunkett is an Adobe Community Professional, Adobe Certified Instructor with VOX LAB, Adobe Certified Expert and is the present Singapore Adobe InDesign User Group Chapter Representative.
Mark talked about the importance of using preflight and package in InDesign, how to create a basic preflight profile to check your work. Mark talked about the importance of effective ppi and why some images when converted to 300dpi in Photoshop are still pixelated.
Next was an Italian speaker, Stefano Virgilli. Stefano is an Adobe Community Professional, Adobe Certified Instructor and Director of VOX LAB, Adobe Certified Expert and is the present Adobe Photoshop User Group Manager in Singapore named Creative Crew.
Stefano gave an impressive talk about color management, resolution difference, Actions with Photoshop and Adobe Bridge. Stefano explained why Lab color is important when converting an image from RGB to CMYK, about how the color works and what is Lab color.
After that we had a quick 5-minute break to freshen ourselves with drinks. (The muffins and snacks were already happily eaten before the commencement of the meeting.)
Lastly, Mark came back for the final session to talk about the most sought-after digital publishing with InDesign CS5.5 and how simple it is to create an app with Adobe minus the cost. Mark showed about Folio Builder and Overlay Creator extensions that was installed using the Folio Producer available for free on Adobe's website.
Finally, the meeting came to an end with the lucky winner of an Adobe Design Premium CS5.5 worth up to S$2,500. Congratulations to Nguyen for walking away with the terrific prize.
