InDesign CS
116 attendees heard Will Eisley, InDesign CS Product Manager, present the new CS version of InDesign (or for those that like the numbering convention, InDesign 3.0). The product was recently announced at the end of September and is currently not shipping but due to ship this quarter.
The product will be available for an upgrade price of $169 and will also be a part of the new Creative Suite Standard and Premium.
Some of the new features included:
- Stash palettes on the side of your monitor and save your workspace
- A Control palette that is context sensitive based on your selection
- Info Palette which gives both effective and actual resolution of raster based graphics, and word, line, paragraph and character counts for text
- Support for Duotone, Tritone and Quadtone Images in native PSD and TIFF file format
- Separation Preview
- Transparency Flattener Preview
- Export to PDF X1A/3
- Export to Acrobat 6 layers
- Export to PDF 1.5 standard
- New strokes
- Stroke style editor
- Nested Styles - apply Character styles within Paragraphs with easy-to-make rules
- Support for multimedia production including, quicktime and movie files as well as sound and swf files, and rollovers
- Multi-Ink and Multi-Ink Group Features
- Package for GoLive
- InDesign CS is faster than InDesign 2
Many other enhancements were also shown.
Additional functionality with Version Cue and the Creative Suite were also shown.
