As usual... a well organized and well executed event that was informative and a lot of fun.
Adobe Campus
Event DetailsThis month we tried a new format for presenting InDesign Tips & Tricks: randomly selected BINGO numbers dictated which demos were presented by our local experts, Colin Fleming (Worldwide Digital Publishing Suite Evangelist, Adobe Systems) & Chris Kitchener (Sr. Product Manager, InDesign at Adobe Systems). A few lucky winners won some fabulous prizes along the way, including InDesign CS5.5!
Colin & Chris covered a wide range of helpful shortcuts, inside information, valuable scripts, production tips & 'Easter Eggs'. Unfortunately we didn't have a Note-taker volunteer this month so we don't have a recap of everything they covered. But here's the one tip they didn't have a chance to demo:
Easter Egg: Holiday Lights (this creates a pre-defined stroke style)
First, open the Stroke palette and select "Stroke Styles" from the flyout menu. Create a new dashed style called "Lights". Select or draw a frame, make sure your line weight is large (30 or 40 pts) and choose the Lights stroke type. Sparkle, sparkle, pretty, oooh.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers – we can't possibly do it without you!
Check-in: Teresa Anderson, Fredric Ueckert
Game Logistics Odds & Ends: Eric McCarthy, Antonia Guerra

Thank you also to Markzware who sponsored us with 2 copies of their latest release, Q2ID (Quark to InDesign). They are also offering a limited time discount of 15% on any of their great products to SIDUG members; to take advantage of the discount, email Mary Gay Marchese at pr@markzware.com. You can also check their Facebook page for more info and specials.
Photoshop Stumps (a "You make the class" Photoshop class)
Saturday, Sept. 24th, 11:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.
The Photoshop Stumps class is to be a class addressing what you want to know. If you want to know how to save images for the web or how to make your image better-looking, then this is the class for you. If you don't have a clue about specifics but know that you want to learn more about Photoshop, then this is also the class for you. I will create a list of items to cover in the class that are good to know: tips, tricks, and how to's. I will also take your emails with your suggestions and put them on the top of that list. That is what this class will cover.
