We met at the new conference center at Adobe – a very large open beautiful site for meetings. Easy to see the speakers with 4 very large screens to see their work and no problem hearing them speak.

Asset Management

  • Asset Management/Bridge
  • InDesign and Metadata Files
    • Who creates metadata – everyone
    • Who uses metadata – everyone
  • CS4 has a bug that won’t let you copy file information
  • Bridge gives more information & will copy file information
  • Even gives camera information used
  • Go to Bridge, copy information & place text with image
  • Bridge will also do a search for an image that you want
  • Metadata – Bridge will do a keyword search
  • Can change the camera title numbers to a named file
  • To get information, go to File > File Info. You will see tabs for:
    • Description
    • IPTC
    • Camera Data
    • Video Data
    • Audio Data
    • Mobile SWF
    • Categories
    • Origin
    • DICOM
    • History
    • Program file was made in (AI, PS, ID, etc.)
    • Advanced
    • Raw Data
  • Bridge will also make a template (Choose Create Metadata Template and click Save)
  • If the Metadata information goes with a PDF file, Google will add it to the search. It is better to strip out the metadata information that you don’t want to go online
  • To find a file that is still in Quark, in Bridge choose Window > Path Bar, and find file that you want
  • Click on arrows to open sub-folders to see desired files
  • Bridge doesn’t show Photoshop layers
    • Go to the Finder to get information and see the Photoshop layers
  • Metadata — CS5 will create text captions
  • Select image
  • Captions
    • Captions/setup
  • Headline
  • Choose before or after image
  • Paragraph styles
  • Go back to captions — choose live or static
    • Will automatically show the text setup
  • Save in library to reuse
  • CS5 can also use the Mini Bridge
  • Bridge CS5 lets you look at all of the PDF files and PDF images in the layout in an InDesign file.

Lightroom and Asset Management

  • Steve’s new book: Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3
  • In Bridge, go to Folders, Filter, Collections
    • Filter can sort by dates or categories
  • In Lightroom, go to Folder panel, images
    • Can see lost files
  • Collect
    • Smart collect (both Lightroom & Bridge)
    • Will do a search for keywords
  • Go to view options
  • Check/uncheck Metadata
    • The lines mean that it is a metadata file; the Down Arrow means that the file hasn’t been saved yet  
  • CS5 saves Metadata files all the time
