A Parallel Universe for InDesign
With the advent of the internet and tablet computers, there are now quite a few methods that can be used to produce a publication.
InDesign is the engine for some of these methods.
Other methods may use InDesign for the preliminary layout before being converted/processed or otherwise interpreted by another program to produce the final publication.
Others still may not involve InDesign at all, but offer features beyond the current scope of InDesign that should not be ignored.
David Gross of Mimetic Books will discuss their easy, inexpensive, fast way to produce your own eBook app for the iPad or Nook. You provide the pictures and the design, and they will build you a custom book app you can sell.
It is easy to build a beautiful book. Choose one of their designs, then send them the picture files. That is all we need to build a book — exciting for people on a tight budget.
Ron Martinez of Aerbook Cloud Publishing will discuss Aerbook Maker which radically reduces the cost and complexity of building next generation, graphical eBooks and true native apps, for multiple formats and devices.
A review of Nested Style Sheets will also be included.
A few of the programs that will be reviewed tonight may seem a bit far removed, but as InDesign integrates more interactive features, we can envision some of the features being integrated into future versions of InDesign.
