Rochester InDesign User GroupMeeting Notes Archive
December 7, 2006
On December 7, 2006, our Rochester chapter celebrated a joint meeting with RAF. A total of 74 people attended the meeting on a cold Rochester evening.
The meeting was opened by Becky Shick, Rochester Chapter Representative of the InDesign User Group and Director of operations at Howell, Liberatore & Wickham, Inc. in Elmira, NY. Benefits of membership in IDUG were outlined. There was a brief exchange and offering of assistance to those people seeking positions and an offer to promote job openings in the area, and then RAF was offered the floor. Peter VonDerLinn, President of RAF, greeted the group and expressed appreciation to Xerox Corporation and Bob Wagner for providing the evening’s refreshments.
James Alexander, Director and Creator of Adobe Stock Photos, shared a number of tips on how we might use Adobe Bridge and Adobe Stock Photos to boost productivity. While Bridge allows you to manage all of your Creative Suite files in one place, Adobe Stock Photos allows selection, placement of comps, and purchase of stock photographyright from within the application.
After a live, online demonstration of Adobe Stock Photos, the new collaborative meeting feature within the recently released Acrobat 8 was demonstrated live. This is the integration of the Breeze product into Acrobat, one of many incredible enhancements. The feature set includes the ability to videoconference and share desktops between creative individuals and clients or team members.
After a short break, Noha Edell, Adobe’s Business Development Manager, wowed the audience with incredible InDesign tips. Object styles peaked the audience’s interest, to say the least.
Based on the comments shared through the evaluation forms, the night was a complete success.
“Very helpful, informative…Noha rocks!"
“…No topic is uninteresting. I always learn so much! Wow.”
“I was surprised and impressed by the ability to use stock photos.”
“Good presentationsnew possibilities.”
“…very informational and fun.”
“Thank you for starting a chapter in Rochester. I love having such a resource locally…”
“I was very impressed with how all of the Adobe programs work together.”
The evening concluded, as always, with our raffle of fabulous prizesa number of books from our IDUG partners, Adobe Press and Peachpit, a copy of Adobe InDesign CS2 (courtesy of Adobe Stock Photos), and, the grand finale, a full version of Adobe Creative Suite CS2.3 Premium, courtesy of Adobe Stock Photos. We had some very lucky and grateful winners.
