Reno InDesign User Group
Meeting Summary: Ha-ja-du-dat?
Thu, May 7th, 2009 at 6:15 PM
The Glenn Group Offices (Reno)
Event DetailsOur May 7th InDesigh User Group meeting, hosted once again by The Glenn Group, proved to be one of our best. Jennifer Norland and Mile Wilhelm from The Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT) inspired us with some powerful interactive communication examples.
Jennifer led off with some practical and engaging PDF documents, which displayed both her gifts as a graphic artist and her commitment to the goals of the organization. Her understanding of the distribution options for PDF forms was apparent while she detailed her layout process.
Mike followed up with an informative explanation of how CASAT is describing their services and measuring the response to their efforts using PDF forms and the data-collection options available at Acrobat.com. He displayed his creative flair by showing how he incorporated a Flash experience into a database e-mail campaign.
After the break, chairperson Jim Cooper from Apsiva showed us how we can enhance our conventional layouts with interactive PDF features. As promised in the invitation, he stepped us through some basic button options and behaviors, with the help of Zak, his little photogenic friend.
Overall, Jim showed how easily we can start creating our own "signature" documents, while Mike and Jennifer demonstrated how they are gaining a competitive edge by coupling their creativity with some unique Reno User Group knowledge exchange.
We concluded with another spirited raffle, with all proceeds again devoted to the continuing work of the Bring Bri Justice foundation.
