Event Details

Your Reno InDesign User Group meets next on April 22, on the UNR campus.
You must be present to receive your Productivity Stimulus Package!

OK, the Productivity Stimulus Package is actually a collection of field-tested tips for creating and sharing multi-channel content. If you have never seen Spreadsheet, Word-Processing, Plain Text or Database files poured into the world’s premier (InDesign®) publishing engine, you are in for a treat.

What would you then say, if that same “collection” of text and media were then packaged and tagged for web publication, with little or no additional labor or “lag” time? Would you say “sign me up” and mark your calendar? We hope you will.

No matter what software you use to maintain your information, you have a portal into Adobe® engineered print, PDF and web publishing. Even more appealing is the ability to “refresh” any layout by simply updating your original source document.

AGENDA

We will do an in-depth overview and outline the InDesign high-impact feature sets required to:

1. Compose a complete Rules/Regulations document, complete with Table of Contents and Index, from a database-export “text” file.

2. Auto-generate a multi-page Product Catalog from a “tabbed” data source.

3. Import and auto-style a magazine article; edit and copyfit in the “live” document; export a PDF file for the printer; tag and export all content for the web (in less than ten minutes).

4. Import spreadsheet data into a layout and “refresh” content on demand.

5. Publish with Speed and “Style” using proven professional methods. If you have ever spent more time formatting your work than you did authoring it, or if accepting files contributed by others meant hours of mind-numbing cut and paste, relief is on the way!

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE

During this meeting we will demonstrate as many InDesign publishing scenarios as possible. We plan to use feedback from this meeting to help us present our first Reno InDesign User Group Summer Series.

Why hang around after hours when you can take a long lunch in mid-day to improve your InDesign knowledge and benefit from the most economical training experience that you will find?
(With the added bonus of getting out of work)

Details will be coming soon, and you should expect the regular announcements.

We have one-day parking passes available for the SILVER lots (after 6pm). If you did not pick up a pass at the last meeting, you will need to stop in, pick up the pass, and jog back to your car. At the meeting, you can get a pass for the next meeting (with the purchase of raffle tickets) and take it with you.
NOTE: Lots S4 and S6 are still “off limits” to one-day users (we don’t make the rules).
As always, you can take your chances with street parking.
