Event Details

Adobe's own Lisa Niday joined us via Connect to lead us through many of the new Creative Suite 5 features in an action-packed hour at Harrah's Reno.

We checked out the improved intricate selection capabilities in Photoshop and rolled into a jaw-dropping demonstration of Content-Aware Fill and Puppet Warp. We also got a peek at Bristle Tips and the Mixer Brush, which will enable us to turn photographs into paintings. We also saw Automatic Lens Correction in action.

Lisa "wowed the crowd" with the Perspective Drawing capabilities in Illustrator, then continued on with Beautiful Strokes, the Bristle Brush, and showed how to draw inside shapes. We then saw how to create interactive audience experiences by taking Illustrator creations into the new Flash Catalyst.

We were also introduced to Adobe CS Review, one of the new CS Live online services. This will make it easier for us to invite collaborators to an online review of our artwork and add/share comments.

Jim Cooper (VP-Publishing Strategies, Apsiva) our chairperson, took over after Lisa's standing ovation and gave us a brief overview of the InDesign Animation Panel and Mini Bridge. We saw how, with a couple of deft clicks, we can bring multiple images into a page and lay them out in grid fashion. We concluded with a strategy to re-vitalize existing photo libraries. In less than three minutes, he created a 90-photo animated Flash slide show from a blank InDesign document.

Sean Kearney won the first copy of InDesign CS5 presented by the Adobe Reno InDesign User group. We continue to forward all raffle proceeds to the Bring Bri Justice foundation.
