Event DetailsInDesign is not just for print! In years past we've discussed using InDesign to create interactive PDF files. In this meeting, Portland IDUG chapter rep Paul Erdman demonstrated InDesign CS4's new capability of exporting to Adobe Flash. CS4 offers two Flash related export options:
1. Adobe Flash CS4 Pro (XFL): use this option if you wish to further edit the file in Adobe Flash.
2. SWF: a ready-for-web flash file, with the option to create a HTML page containing necessary code for embedding the file on your website.
Paul showed how InDesign could be used to create an interactive flash portfolio, with navigation buttons, fade page transitions, mouse-over effects, hyperlinks to open websites in new windows, etc. Most of these features can be found in the Window menu, Interactive submenu.
In summary, even if you do not know Flash you can now create exciting and interactive Flash content right from InDesign.
