Absolutely excellent!
PSU Market Square Building, Room 1053
Event DetailsThe Portland IDUG is back with a bang! 45 members attended our March meeting to learn about how best to design books so that they not only look good in print, but also work well as eBooks. And to make the group better than ever, we've enlisted Steve Oglesby's help as our new Assistant Chapter Representative. Thanks for volunteering, Steve!
Whether we like it or not, it's obvious that with the growing popularity of eBook devices we're going to have to get our feet wet in this new publishing medium. There was a handout provided that summarized the entire presentation; you can download it in PDF format from the IDUG website.
We had sufficient interest to make us consider having a special focus group meeting on editing exported ePub contents in Dreamweaver. You may have already seen that we've set up that special meeting for April 14.
A big thank you to Jane Leonard for once again bringing the food! We'd all be a lot hungrier without your hard work.
Thanks to Adobe, InDesign Magazine, and Markzware for the great raffle prizes.
Thanks to PSU for the wonderful room.
And thanks to all our members for your attendance and support!
"As always, Paul presents lots of info to a wide range of users, and makes it understandable. Even if I don't understand everything, there is always an "ahah!" moment."
"Absolutely excellent!"
"Useful and Informative--learned a few tricks!"
"The handout with URLs and major points is especially appreciated!"
Special ePub meeting: April 14 (see http://www.indesignusergroup.com/chapters/portland/events/1756 for details).
Next regular meeting: Interactive InDesign!
Thursday, May 19th
6:30-8:30 PM PST
1053 PSU Market Square Building
1515 SW 5th
Portland, OR 97006
***If any of you have make interactive documents of your own, please contact me so that we can share them with the group!***
After reviewing your feedback forms I've found that the two most requested topics are (1) interactive PDF/SWF and (2) typography and fonts. So our May meeting will focus on interactive documents! We'll cover everything from interactive booklets to Flash-based websites created entirely in InDesign. Looking farther ahead, in July we'll cover typography and fonts, with an emphasis on proper use of Paragraph and Character Styles.
