Happy Creative Suite 5 Everyone!

On 12-April-2010 Adobe officially launched Creative Suite 5. A release filled with new features that remove design boundaries, allow you to work faster and with greater precision and help streamline critical workflows!

Adobe will be coming to Perth at the end of May for an official launch event, so keep an eye out for a meeting invite.

It's been quite some time since the last Perth IDUG get-together. In fact it was back in February 2010. When we had our theme night "Long Live InDesign", both in celebration of InDesign's 10th birthday, and to focus on Long Document features.

During the evening, Cari Jansen once again presented, this time covering tips and tricks related to working with longer documents in InDesign. We covered working with master-pages, looked at some of the challenges that might be encountered when working with Microsoft Word documents, and learned about style-mapping from Word to InDesign.

We then took a look at working with Excel documents, and bringing in tabular data from Excel. Related to working with tabular data Cari provided a step-by-step How-To session on working with Table Styles in InDesign.

Once again, this was an action-packed evening, and as usual there was so much more to cover, leaving us with great follow-up topics for future meetings.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be covering Adobe InDesign CS5. We’re hoping to make this meeting coincide with the Adobe Creative Suite 5 launch event in Perth on 27-May-2010. Be sure to keep the entire day including evening available. More news and an official meeting invite will follow soon.

If you already want to pencil in some future meeting dates: June 22, September 29, December 7, 2010. Meeting invites will be send out closer to the actual dates.
