The Ottawa InDesign User Group chapter was back in action with our first meeting of 2008 on April 7th. We welcomed back to Ottawa Adobe’s Sebastian Distefano, who treated us to his whimsical InDesign knowledge.
This meeting covered an introduction to the new Adobe Bridge CS3 and its integration with Adobe InDesign CS3.
What we learned:
• How to use workspace manager
• How to control metadata, what is XMP, and how metadata can streamline your workflow with InDesign layouts
• How keywords can boost your file workflow
• How the brand-new Filter panel can make finding files easier
• How Adobe Bridge is integrated into InDesign CS3
• And lots of great tips and tricks with Bridge and InDesign CS3, like making a quick contact sheet with Bridge and InDesign.
In traditional Ottawa InDesign User Group fashion, we also had a guest speaker. This meeting’s speaker was Eliquo’s Director of Training & Development, Michael Cooper. Michael’s presentation was focused on becoming more productive with InDesign by leveraging effective time-saving keyboard shortcuts.
Naturally, we finished off the evening with a horde of wonderful prizes. We gave away some beautiful InDesign, InCopy, and digital imaging books, some InCopy training DVD’s, and a year’s subscription to Layers Magazine. Finally, there was the grand prize draw for a copy of InDesign CS3.
