Event DetailsInDesign User Group, Data Driven Graphics
Our IDUG meeting started with a demo from Greg Kerr of Eliquo Training and Development on how to add data to a designer’s graphics. He showed how InDesign provides users with a full set of tools to bring spreadsheet records into their layouts and how to switch between multiple sets of names, addresses, descriptions, serial numbers and other variables.
This dynamic workflow also included other features such as working with conditional text, importing a spreadsheet file into InDesign, using Data Merge to control multiple records in your layout and merging records into new InDesign files or PDFs.
GridIron Software
Paul Grant from GridIron Software also joined us in the second half of the evening to demonstrate Flow, their software that is helping designers all over the world improve their workflow. We were treated to a great demo that showed us how Flow can help designers track their projects from conception to production, all without having to change a thing about how you work. The demo was very well received, as Flow brings much relief and hope to the design community to assist them with managing their project much more effectively.
One lucky IDUG member even walked away with a free copy of Flow.
Thank you
We hope you all enjoyed this session. We are expecting our next IDUG meeting to take place in February so we look forward to seeing everyone back in a few months. And for those that did not make it out this time, we hope to see you at the next meeting.
Next Meeting
We are targeting our next meeting for February, 2010. The date and content have not yet been finalized.
Thank you for supporting the Ottawa IDUG chapter.
