Tuesday, April 25, 2006

The 57 members who attended didn’t go home empty-handed. The Tuesday, April 25 meeting of the Adobe InDesign® user group started with an “outtroduction” by Paul Schiemer, the group’s faithful master of ceremony since its inception. Paul announced this was his last meeting (he has moved to Georgia) and passed the MC’s microphone over to Mark Poulalion, Senior Art Director of Sport Diver magazine. Mark not only performed MC duties, but also showed the group how to find stock photos using Adobe Bridge and Adobe Stock Photos. He then demonstrated how to import those images into InDesign.

Our featured presenter was the savvy and spirited Lesa Snider King, founder of the free creative tutorial website GraphicReporter.com and chief evangelist for iStockphoto.com. Lesa gave a presentation focusing first on iStockphoto.com, a royalty-free, high-quality, low-cost stock photo warehouse. Lesa followed up by sharing her efficient InDesign workflow secrets used in the production of O’Reilly’s Missing Manuals. Lesa also demonstrated keyboard shortcuts for InDesign® and innovative Photoshop tips and tricks featured on the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) website and her website. See and listen to her podcast each Wednesday night at www.yourmaclife.com.
