The Orlando InDesign® user group meeting for October (one day after yet another Florida hurricane) was a resounding success!
Fifty professional designers and artists attended a great win/win event with excellent presentations, demo materials, and notes, and plenty of premium quality raffle prizes.
After sampling lavish food samples in the Downtown Media Arts Center (DMAC) gallery space, attendees adjourned upstairs to hear Rich Larson (Rich Art Graphics) detail the conversion of Quark files to InDesign. His presentation was illustrated by a recent piece of his commercial work, displayed beautifully on the DMAC video screen.

Then a Harcourt School Publishers tag team of Mark Mattson, Publishing Systems Trainer, and Randy Rowles, Senior Mac Tech, took over and demonstrated Adobe’s powerful InCopy® program, which provides control over workflow and publication maintenance. We also saw Smart Connection Enterprise, a program that links InDesign to InCopy (from WoodWing Software).

InDesign user group meetings are punctuated by a wonderful give-and-take questions, comments, and contributions from people just like you using the programs daily. All this, and a chance to dip in the "job pool," an informal gathering of attendees for networking after the meeting. Representatives from Robert Half Technology (Miguel Boland, Division Director, Consulting Services, and Christine Morse, Account Executive) were busy collecting and handing out job information. If you missed them, their email addresses are miguel.boland@rht.com and bernie.mills@rht.com, or call (407) 849-2983. Chrystal Wilson, Creative Staffing Agent from Aquent, was also in the job pool and wanted you to know that many of her clients are looking for production and graphic artists skilled in InDesign. She may be reached via email at cwilson@aquent.com or by calling (407) 916-9119.
