Our first meeting was a huge success. We had over 60 persons in attendance. The energy was right, the room was comfortable. The screen was clear, and everyone could hear and be heard. Here’s an example of presenters and topics covered.
Karla Elgin, of Future Media Concepts, introduced Katie Houghton, an Adobe Certified Instructor. Katie exposed us to useful new features of InDesign® CS2. She showed how well-integrated InDesign is with both Photoshop® and Illustrator®. Attendees are still talking about how they are putting into practice what they learned. Future Media Concepts, the nation's premier digital media training company, has offices in Orlando, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Boston. They provide a complete range of manufacturer-authorized training in all areas of digital media.

Sport Diver is a publication of World Publications. Mark knows first-hand the challenges of converting from Quark 6.5 to InDesign CS2. World Publications is now in the process of converting all 22 of their magazines from QuarkXPress to InDesign.

David Brotherton, Art Director, Create Magazine, talked about his publication's InDesign conversion process. He showed us the last Quark issue of Create and the first InDesign issue. He gave us an overview of his company; they have six people responsible for putting out the magazine. David discussed a poll taken, within the industry, of shops that had switched to InDesign. He explained the use of InCopy®, which enables changes to text files to automatically be reflected in the InDesign files. The Create website offers a “Resource” link that gives professionals a high-end medium for sharing information that facilitates strategic partnerships and career growth.
