If you weren't among the 100 in attendance at the October 10 meeting of the New York InDesign Users' Group, here's what you missed.

After the usual opening greetings and messages delivered by chapter rep Scott Citron, James Alexander, Director of Adobe Stock Photos® took the stage. Following a brief history of the Stock Photos feature, James showed how to get the most out this under-utilized Bridge component.

In perhaps the most compelling part of the demo, James showed how a remote party could make actual design changes to an InDesign layout by leveraging the power of Adobe Acrobat Connect, now integrated with the new Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.

Following a short break, Scott Citron took the stage to give the first New York area demo of Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0. Among the new features Scott presented was an improved UI, saved header/footers, improved Object Touch Up tool, improved redaction tools, and customized toolbars.

The Acrobat show-stopper was auto-form field recognition, a formerly tedious task that's now handled with aplomb by this new release.

The evening ended following an exciting raffle. Among the items given away were two certificates for free training from Alison Cattelona of Mobile Mac Training, a copy of BarcodeMaker from Teacup Software, a pile of great books from O'Reilly Publishers, and a stack of T-shirts from Markzware.

Of course the top prizes were a copy of Adobe InDesign CS2 given by Adobe, and one lucky winner went home with a box of Adobe Creative Suite CS2 Premium, a gift of Adobe Stock Photos.

As always, we appreciate those who took the time to fill out an evaluation of the event. Here are a few excerpts:
