Part 1 of 2

The theme was "Adobe Creative Suite: From Concept to Completion." In this first part of a two-part session, chapter representative Scott Citron began by showing how a design project begins life in Adobe Bridge. Scott explained how to use Bridge to organize and process large amounts of files before dropping them into InDesign®.

With Photoshop® being a key component of the Creative Suite, Scott wowed the audience with a slick demo of its new vanishing-point filter. Turning to Illustrator®, Scott showed why Live Trace is indeed live, and how Live Paint can be used to quickly add color to traced artwork. Picking up on a feature that began with AI CS, Scott used the 3D revolve effect to convert a simple contour into a realistic shaded object.

Thank you to Mamta Rana of Enigma Creative for this meeting's photographs.

Part 2 of 2

Coming in January '06...
Scott will continue building his InDesign booklet. Techniques to be covered will include object styles, quick apply, nested styles, and interactive, rich PDF output that includes hyperlinks, bookmarks, and embedded QuickTime movies.

Thanks for your support over the past year. The year 2005 saw the addition of hundreds of new members, and our chapter continues to be the world's largest, with close to 2,000 registered members. With that we wish you a happy, healthy holiday season, and best of luck in the new year.
