Instead of the usual speaker/break/speaker format, the evening broke from tradition to venture down a path known as "InDesign Survivor: Return to Butterfly Island." Hosted by game show creator, InDesign® expert, and author Sandee Cohen, nine brave souls volunteered to expose their InDesign knowledge in front of a savage crowd of 130 attendees.
The format was simple. Sandee asked an InDesign question. If the panelist couldn't answer the question, he or she was eliminated from the island. The only way to stay was if the next panelist also missed the answer. Along the way, the show gave the judges (Scott Citron and Bob Levine) an occasional chance to demonstrate the principle or feature in question. At the end of the evening only one panelist survived. Tracey Iaizzi was our grand prize winner, and for her efforts she took home a copy of the Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium software package.
Based on returned evaluations, the show was a ratings hit and will no doubt return next season. Thanks again to those who volunteered to play the game, and thanks to the rest of those in attendance for being such an enthusiastic audience.
As we head into fall, thanks again for your continued support, and please feel free to contact me with your thoughts and comments about the direction of the group.
