Wednesday, February 11, 2004 marked the latest meeting of the New York City chapter of the InDesign® user group. Held at the prestigious Pratt Institute's new Manhattan facility, the full-house meeting of 135 plus members was kicked off by a few opening remarks provided by chapter representative Scott Citron.

Among other general announcements, Scott reminded members to frequent this user group website, and spent several minutes showcasing some of this site's resources, including tips and tricks, conversion information, scripting, plug-ins, and service provider information.

Following Scott’s opening announcements, he opened the floor to members to ask him and his panel of InDesign experts (Adobe's Noha Edell and Gary Cosimini, and Ben House of Deutsch Advertising) questions they might have about using InDesign. Among the many questions asked were those about Quark conversion, working with layers, flattener settings, knockout groups, and PDF export.

After a short break, during which members bought a record amount of raffle tickets, the meeting resumed. Before the next round of questions began, Noha Edell invited all trainers to make themselves known to the group. In addition, several members looking for InDesign work introduced themselves, as did Ian Horst of BeMusic, who announced that his company was looking for freelance help.

Shortly past 9:00 pm the evening's raffle began. In addition to a pile of T-shirts given away, raffle items included several copies of the InDesign CS Classroom in a Book, a copy of Photoshop® CS, a copy of InDesign CS, a copy of the Adobe Creative Suite Standard, and, the grand prize, a copy of the Adobe Creative Suite Premium version.
