Chapter representative Scott Citron kicked off another meeting of the New York City InDesign® user group. Once again, this event was held in Swayduck Auditorium at New School University, thanks to our good friend Michael Randazzo. Scott underscored the importance of members’ participation in determining the direction of the group, and then opened the discussion to comments from the floor. Scott also reminded members to make use of the excellent InDesign user group website, a valuable resource for all things InDesign.

Following Scott’s introduction, Adobe’s Noha Edell launched into a detailed demo of the recently released InDesign CS. Beginning with a discussion of the product’s new customizable workspaces and interface improvements, Noha showed off other exciting new features, such as the story editor, stroke editor, document presets, and the amazing nested styles. By the end of Noha’s presentation, the crowd was left predictably salivating.

After a pizza break, Adobe’s reliable Gary Cosimini favored the group with an impromptu demonstration of the new InCopy® CS. Gary also wowed the audience by running an AppleScript to quickly populate a document with multiple boxes.

The evening concluded with another exciting raffle. Among the gifts sent flying were copies of Acrobat® 6.0, InDesign, a selection of excellent titles from Peachpit Press, and a handful of DVDs from the outstanding Total Training series. As always, our sincere thanks to our sponsors for providing these great products.
