Event DetailsGraphic designer, author, podcaster, and InDesign ACE Michael Murphy brought his "Style Strategies and Text Timesavers" presentation to the New York InDesign User Group on September 24, 2009. Over 150 members listened with rapt attention as Murphy spent the evening explaining how to leverage InDesign's most powerful feature. Drawing heavily on his recent Adobe Press book, "Adobe InDesign CS4 Styles: How to Create Better, Faster Text and Layouts" Murphy covered topics such as the importance of "dumb" character styles, nested styles, GREP styles, and nested line styles.
The evening concluded with its customary raffle. Among the prizes was a copy of Adobe InCopy CS3, Dreamweaver CS3, a pile of great books from Adobe Press, three Platinum passes to the upcoming InDesign Conference in Washington, DC, two one-year subscriptions to "InDesign Magazine," the Q2ID plug-in from Markzware, FocalPoint plug-in from onOne Software, and Flow from Gridiron Software. The evening's grand prize was a copy of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium, which went to a very happy Julie Serman.
