Event Details

On the day after Labor Day, the NYC InDesign User Group returned from summer hiatus with more than 125 members treated to an evening of new feature demonstrations of InDesign's Creative Suite companion programs, Photoshop CS5 Extended and Illustrator CS5.

Chapter representative Scott Citron kicked things off with Photoshop CS5's newly enhanced edge detection tools, showing how quickly even the most difficult subjects could be silhouetted. He moved on to demo the new scrubby zoom feature, content aware fill, and the mixer brush. And speaking of brushes, he showed how to quickly set the size and hardness of a brush by Alt+right click+drag on Windows, or Control+Option+drag on Mac.

For photographers and photo retouchers, Scott showed the Lens Corrections filter and using the Puppet Warp tool to touch up faces. He finished up with the new, so-called, JDI (Just Do It) features showing how simple it is to straighten an image using the Ruler Tool.

After a quick break, Scott moved on to Illustrator showing the new Perspective Drawing tools, Bristle Brushes, Shape Builder, and Stroke Width tools. The evening wrapped up with a new "Everyone's Entered" (free) raffle.
