You won't want to miss this meeting. We're bringing in an engaging expert (James Fritz) to teach us techniques for working efficiently with long documents, AND we're serving CAKE!
In honor of the 10th "birthday" of InDesign, Adobe is providing birthday cake for our meeting. So come a few minutes early to get a piece of cake and enjoy some conversation with your fellow InDesign users.
Presentation one: Long document techniques
Long documents can be daunting to designers. Managing dozens (possibly hundreds) of pages can be overwhelming. Come with your questions and learn best practices and tips from James Fritz on how to manage these documents with text variables, table of contents, hyperlinks, books, anchored objects and much more!
James Fritz is a designer and Instructor for C2 Graphics Productivity Solutions (http://www.c2gps.com) in Wisconsin. He is also a contributor to indesignsecrets and an Adobe Certified Instructor in InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop and Acrobat.
Presentation two: Using "Balance Ragged Lines"
Keith Gilbert will continue the theme of working with long documents by demonstrating when and how to use InDesign's obscure-but-powerful "Balance Ragged Lines" feature. Keith will also demonstrate a new free script he has written that makes this feature more powerful and useful.
Keith Gilbert has worked as an independent consultant and educator in the design industry for 24 years for clients such as Apple, Adobe, Best Buy, Target and the United Nations. His work has taken him throughout North America, as well as to Barbados, Kenya and Monaco. He is an Adobe Certified Instructor in InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. You can read his Tips & Techniques Blog at http://blog.gilbertconsulting.com.
The evening will conclude with fantastic door prizes.
As always, Twin Cities InDesign User Group meetings are FREE and open to the public, thanks to generous support from the Minneapolis College of Art & Design (http://mcad.edu) and Central Coast Solutions (http://centralcoastweb.com/).
Did I mention there was going to be CAKE?
