Best Practices in Typography and Font Management

You can teach a person InDesign, but can you teach them to really set type? The answer is, "Yes!" and Terry Rydberg will show you how during the first part of our Best Practices meeting. You will learn the text handling details that separate true typesetters from "do-it-yourselfers."

Both creative and prepress professionals benefit by organizing their fonts and having a Font Management strategy in place. During the second half of this meeting, James Wamser will describe several font management applications: Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2, Linotype FontExplorer X Pro, InSider Software's FontAgent Pro and Fontcase. We will also look at FontDoctor which analyzes fonts, finds problems, and can fix them (most of the time) and FontNuke, which deletes font caches.

Finally, we will go over the Fonts that Mac OS X requires and the various locations that fonts are typically stored.
