We started our first meeting of the 2011-2112 season by thanking Terry Rydberg for all the work she has done over the years to help our Chapter become so successful and fun.

We then introduced our special guest speaker Mike Rankin, who flew in from Boston to wow us with his InDesign FX. He presented to a packed house of over 100 people to wrap up his whirlwind tour promoting his ebook and his new Lynda.com series.

Mike demoed a large number of eye-popping specials effects and even took the time to the show us the fundamentals of working with special effects. After making the audience drool over his effects, he took the time to ensure that they could actually print these effects with their local printer.

In addition to special effects, Tim Cole from 1IO (http://www.1io.com/) software gave an enthusiastic demonstration of a new workflow solution, one2edit, that lets users edit their existing InDesign documents in a web browser. Anne-Marie "HerGeekness" Concepcion will lead a fun-filled, full-day deep dive into InDesign that will concentrate on CS5.5 and CS5, but with tips that can be applied to CS4 and CS3 as well.
