Adobe Regent's Park
Event DetailsAnother full-house at Regent's Park on the 22nd September for an enlightening presentation by Thomas Phinney, Adobe's Product manager for Fonts and Global Typography.
Joining us directly after a conference in Russia (where he was awarded a medal by the Russian Government!) Thomas road-tested his new presentation "Type for Humans" on the London crowd and demystified optical sizes, screen vs. print type, font formats and much, much more.
Thomas' informative demonstration of some jaw-dropping advanced OpenType features gave us an insight into just how amazing this format really is.
It was also very interesting to see more about the development of a font (Thomas is the designer of Hypatia Sans, one of the CS2 registration incentives) and we saw a glimmer of the amount of work (about six years in development) that had gone into its creation.
Thank you
A massive thank you to Thomas for making the journey to be with us and provide us with such an informative evening.
Thank you once again to Academy Class for providing us with such a fabulous spread of pizza, nibbles and refreshments.
Thank you to Derick Thomas for the photography.
Thank you to Adobe for their generosity in once again providing us with a venue.
We are indebted to Insider Software, Stock Layouts and Adobe for giving us such great raffle prizes.
A special thank you to April Clark, Chapter rep from the Cleveland, Ohio IDUG, who paid us a visit, and was generous enough to defer the prize she won to a London member.
