Start your engines! Not for the greatest spectacle in racing – that’s in May. The big event in April was the start of the Indianapolis InDesign User Group. The inaugural meeting was a definitely a winner. Who says Indy is only known for racing?
44 people attended the meeting (out of 105 registered members, an excellent turnout). Prior to the 7:00 meeting, attendees munched on pizza and breadsticks while chatting. Cate Indiano, President/Owner, DesktopMedia, welcomed everyone and explained our mission/purpose. Cate introduced Chapter Representative Deb Conway. Discussion followed regarding the need for member input/ideas and volunteers to ensure our chapter’s continuing success.
Noha Edell of Adobe Systems wowed us with new features of Adobe Creative Suite 3 – the live-color feature in Illustrator, expanded capabilities of Photoshop, enhanced Adobe Bridge (which is also faster now), and InDesign’s new features (table styles, multiple and selective image placement, gradient feather effects, etc.). We could’ve listened to Noha’s humor and informative demonstration for hours. However, time quickly flew by.
The evening concluded with a huge raffle, with prizes ranging from books and DVD training/on-site training to two copies of InDesign CS3. Huge thanks to our sponsors for providing prizes and/or special discounts for our members.
