How many times have you sent files to a printer and received proofs, or even final prints, and the color was not what you expected? Color management is a complex subject covering a wide range of topics. Rick Rys from Tepel Brothers Printing Company will take you through the basics of color, discuss color spaces (RGB, CMYK, L*a*b), monitor calibration, and show how to synchronize color across the Adobe® Creative Suite and print workflow. Come find out how color management software works and improve your color knowledge. If you have heard about using a complete RGB workflow for print, Tepel Brothers is currently implementing this technology. Rick will guide you through the differences from a traditional CMYK workflow and why you would use this method. In addition, he will talk about innovations in printing including stochastic (FM) screening, high definition CMYK, UV printing, coating techniques and how to prepare your files correctly. Varnishes aren't what they used to be! X-Rite representative Dave Benner will demonstrate i1XTreme and ColorMunki Design, two color management solutions used by commercial photographers, graphic designers and prepress professionals to obtain accurate color on all devices throughout the digital workflow process. X-Rite is the global leader in color science and technology. The company, which now includes color industry leader Pantone, Inc., develops, manufactures, markets and supports innovative color solutions through measurement systems, software, color standards and services. X-Rite’s expertise in inspiring, selecting, measuring, formulating, communicating and matching color helps users get color right the first time and every time, which translates to better quality and reduced costs. If you don’t know about these products, swing on over to www.xrite.com to get details. Better yet, be sure you attend this meeting to see how to achieve accurate color. We will wrap up with our usual fabulous raffle prizes and have a special drawing for two ColorMunki Designs and one i1Basic, generously donated by X-Rite. ============================== The Answer Desk ============================== "The Answer Desk" will be open for your toughest questions during the refreshment hour.
