Event DetailsOur May 4 meeting brought a record 240 members to Schoolcraft College to see first-hand what was new in CS5. Adobe Evangelist Terry White came to show us the magic of CS5, unveiling the newest features in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Representatives from The Creative Group handed out their 2010 Salary Guide and were available to talk about the local employment outlook.
The Adobe engineers have done an amazing job on this version and have brought ID a long way. It is a fabulous release, and Terry revealed the following time-saving features:
- Track changes
- Simplified image selection, transformations and gridified tools
- An Illustrator-style Layers panel
- Mini Bridge
- Paragraphs that span or split columns
- Live Distribute and Live Corner Effects
- The Gap Tool
- Live Captions
- Improved eBook creation
- Interactive Documents with animation
- New rich media import and preview options
* variable-width strokes in Illustrator CS5, Shape Builder, perspective grid, Beautiful Strokes, expressive vector-painting brushes.
Terry had time to show off the new kid on the block, giving an overview of how to extend the reach of your designs to digital media, without writing code, using Flash Catalyst.

A surprise midway through the meeting generated lots of excitement -- everyone attending would receive a free copy of Flow (www.gridironsoftware.com).
