Come see the magic of XML!
How would you like to: * Make 100 business cards in less than 10 seconds? * Import and format the contents of an entire cookbook or product catalog with a few clicks of the mouse? * Repurpose the contents of one document into another layout instantly? * Move print documents effortlessly to the Web and vice versa?
This is the promise of XML and InDesign. Like HTML, XML is a Web-based language. Originally, it was devised to fill in the gaps in the capabilities of what HTML could do. But in the last few years, XML has found a new life in dozens of applications, both in print and the Web. And, it just so happens that InDesign has some of the most powerful XML features available in a page layout package!
Unfortunately, these features and how they work have been poorly documented until now. But on February 19th, the Des Moines InDesign User Group will feature demonstrations and insights into InDesign's powerful XML features by Jim Maivald, author of "A Designer's Guide to Adobe InDesign and XML" from Adobe Press and the leader of the Chicago InDesign User Group.
Come see how to get the most out of InDesign's XML features and capabilities and learn how to avoid some hidden pitfalls.
Jim Maivald is a freelance graphic designer with over 20 years of experience in all aspect of print and Web design and production. He was editor of Graphic Design World magazine and Personal Publishing magazine and has also written books about Photoshop and CorelDRAW. He is an Adobe Certified Expert and Adobe Certified Instructor in InDesign, Acrobat and Dreamweaver.
