Meeting Summary: Spring Back! GREP & Live Color
Tue, Mar 24th, 2009 at 6:30 PM
Anthem Institute (formally known as Chubb Institute)
Event DetailsSo after a long break, We Are Back! No snow…in fact we found it a little steamy inside, but we had some cool things to show everyone. We had a great turnout and thanks to our friends at Anthem we slid right into our groove. The meeting was kicked off with some yummy pizza and refreshments.
We continued our new format this session with Illustrator’s Color Guide and Live Color. Our ol’ friend Mary Belthoff from DoubleClick led the charge. With a couple of clicks we were not only able to choose from an array of cool and warm tints for a selected color, but we also used Live Color to easily change the complexion of an entire composition. She showed us how to restrict the amount of processes in a job as well as selecting Pantones to color the design.
After the break, Mat Gilbert, Co-Rep of IDUG of NJ, explored the world of Find and Change. The money, as most of us know, is in the GREP (General Regular Expression Print). Though this feature has been around InDesign since CS3, CS4 does boast a lovely new attribute…GREP styles within the Paragraph Style panel. This way we can localize the GREP features to any given paragraph…Check it out! Mat walked us through the strange code used in this feature and how we can let InDesign help us to not only decipher it but write it for us…woohoo.
After the tutelage, the goodies were delivered to the lucky winners of the raffle! Robert Bedford took home IDCS4…lucky guy!
Thank you
Once again we would like to thank our friends at Anthem! Great venue and great support!
Thank You Mary Belthoff once again for an outstanding display in Illustrator!
Thanks to O'Reilly Books, Pearson Publishing, and Peachpit for the books and other giveaways!
