Meeting Summary: Get a GREP/Photoshop Tips/Tricks
Tue, Dec 16th, 2008 at 6:30 PM
Anthem Institute (formerly known as Chubb Institute)
Event DetailsIt was a snowy day on December 16 when we started this session. Since the weather was getting worse by the moment, we decided to cut the meeting a little short and to go with only one demonstration. Though the weather outside was frightful, we had a nice turnout. After starting off with a little complimentary pizza (a standard for IDUG Central NJ), Alison showed us some great features in Photoshop CS4 concerning History...
No, this is not a typo. We are now covering other apps of the CS family. We discussed it and figured since we have such a great family of applications within Creative Suite that play so well together, and being that many of these programs are essential in creating a finished product, why not cover these apps in our User Groups?
So here is the new format...for the first part of the IDUG meeting we will discuss the cool features of InDesign. The second half we will cover the other applications found within Creative Suite and how they might pertain to InDesign.
...to continue with the session, Alison showed us some great features concerning different techniques for recalling and/or reversing applied elements within Photoshop. These features included the History panel, Snapshots, History Brush, Layers, Smart Layers, Adjustment Layers, Smart Filters, and Layer Comps.
She then demonstrated how these elements when brought into InDesign can be accessed while either placing a PSD file into a layout, or after through the Object Menu > Object Layer Options or Clipping Path Options. Really cool...I mean way cool, sorry Al.
Following the demo we held our raffle and a silent auction for InDesign CS4. It was a great success.
Have a healthy and happy holiday season and a fabulous New Year.
Thank you
Once again we would like to thank Steve and Anthem for supplying the facilities. It is a great venue and will be the location for the next User Group meeting on February 17, 2009.
Thank you to Adobe for supplying the software for raffle.
Thank you to PeachPit Press and O'Reilly for supplying books for the raffle.
We would like to thank you all for making the first year of the Central New Jersey InDesign User Group such a success. We look forward to seeing you in the next year.
