Chubb Institute - ParsippanyEvent Details
Our Parsippany summer vacation home brought many new faces to our group. The July 22nd session was held at the Chubb Institute in Parsippany, as will the September 23rd session. Then back to our usual home in North Brunswick.
The July 22, 2008 session started with pizza and 42 members and first-time attendees. Bob Levine, the InDesign Guy, showed us the benefits of InCopy. InCopy along with InDesign can greatly improve the workflow for designers and editors with both sides working on the same document at the same time. The check-in/check-out process helps to keep track of changes and keeps two people from working on the same text or design simultaneously.
Mobile Mac Training has attached a quick reference guide PDF on InCopy (at the bottom of this page). Download and enjoy!
On a sad note:
Our previous meeting's presenter and NY InDesign User Group Chapter Rep, Scott Citron, was in a terrible car accident in LA a couple of weeks ago. He suffered many broken bones and bruising to his brain and lungs. His long-term prognosis is good, no paralysis or brain damage, but his road to recovery will be long and difficult. Keep him in your prayers and thoughts. You can get updates about Scott at http://getwellscottcitron.blogspot.com and post your own comments and well wishes.

-A special thank-you to Bob Levine for providing such a thorough and informative presentation.
"I feel the meeting touched on several topics. All were in-depth enough to not only finish a similar project, but diverse enough to be incorporated elsewhere." –Joshua
"Awesome InCopy demo. There is a lot you can do with InCopy and Bridge." –Rob
"Great — well spoken and covered most of the importance of software." –Ronnie
"Very interesting stuff here. The venue seems good as well. Hope to make more of these meetings." –Jeffrey
"Very informative. I used InDesign for years but never had any formal education. Gave me some good tips."
Don’t forget. A change of venue! We are reaching out to our more western central Jersey members for one more meeting. Chubb Institute of Parsippany will host the next group on September 23nd. Jeff Witchel — illustrator and designer extraordinaire and author of the ever-popular Layers Magazine’s Tip of the Day — will present from his wealth of knowledge some of his favorite tips and tricks.
