Brisbane InDesign User GroupMeeting Notes Archive
23 August, 2007
It was an unusually cold, wet, and rainy night for 52 people to attend the Brisbane InDesign User Group meeting at the Hilton Hotel in the Queens Street Mallbut they did it! We were fortunate for our second meeting to have Noha Edell, Business Development Manager for Adobe, as our guest speaker on all things OpenType and type styles. Noha managed to delight the audience with all the tricks and timesaving tips for OpenType. We were all amazed at all the extra swashes, ligatures, and flourishes the typefaces had to offer.

Some of the highlights of the evening were the typefaces themselves, P22 Mystic with its magic ball capabilities, and House industries Ed Interlock. Next to be presented was Layer Comps and its use in InDesign, along with Paragraph, Character, and Nested Styles, to make text editing a breeze. A quick look at Object styles finished off the presentation. At the end, many wonderful prizes were awarded. And Noha took the time to answer new users’ questions about InDesign CS3.
A huge thank you goes to our sponsors, (Aquent Brisbane, Fuji Xerox Australia, and Adobe) and the following companies that contributed raffle prizes (Peachpit, Layers Magazine, Adobe, and O'Reilly Press) for a terrific and informative evening. And big thank you to Noha for the huge distance she traveled to bring us the Wonders of Type in InDesign.
Here are some comments from the attendees:
